Obituary of M. Gretchen Green

Mildred (Gretchen) Green

of Elk Lake, PA

 

Mildred (Gretchen) Green, 93, of Elk Lake, PA passed away Tuesday, November 30, 2021.  Born August 11, 1928, in Elk Lake, PA, the daughter of the late John and Grace [Keough] Fitzsimmons.  Her husband Francis L. Green predeceased her in 2004.

 

Gretchen worked as secretary of the health office for Elk Lake School and co-owned Francis Green Mason Contracting.

 

Gretchen was a member of and counted offerings for the Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church and served as the president of the Altar and Rosary Society.  She volunteered for the Susquehanna County Free Library, the Elk Lake Volunteer Fire Company, the American Cancer Society, Interfaith, board member of Susquehanna Co. Children and Youth, the Dimock Vocational School Alumni Assoc. and judge of elections for Dimock Twp.

 

Survivors include daughters, Kathy Boyer of Dover, PA, and Peggy Harbaugh (Devan) of Tunkhannock, PA; beloved grandchildren; Dominic Harbaugh, Tracy Harbaugh both of Kingston, PA, and Matthew Boyer of Central, SC; great-grandson Ignacio Squef of Mendoza, Argentina, and nieces and nephews.

 

In addition to her husband and parents, a son-in-law, David Boyer a granddaughter, Kristen Squef brothers; James Fitzsimmons and Walt Fitzsimmons, sisters; Evelyn Homer and Beatrice Sotis, all predeceased her.

 

Services: A mass will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, December 4 at the Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church, 278 South Main Street, Montrose, PA.

Visitation: 9:00 AM-10:00 AM at Bartron Myer Funeral Home, 382 Church Street, Montrose, PA. [prior to the mass]
