Obituary of Ralph R. Very

Ralph R. Very, 75, of Fairdale, PA, passed away, Monday, May 3, 2021. Born November 13, 1945, in Springville, PA, he was the son of the late Bruce and Mary [Noble] Very.  His wife Marlene [Gamble] Very predeceased him in 2018.

A 1963 graduate of Montrose High School, he attended college in Rocky Mount, NC, before being drafted into the U.S. Navy in 1967.  While in the Navy, he attended Culinary School in Rhode Island.  After being honorably discharged in 1971, he came back to Susquehanna County, married his late wife, became a dairy farmer, worked part-time at the former Ames Department Store in Montrose, and then for Putman Publishing, retiring when the company closed.  Additionally, he assisted his wife with her store, Very's Store in Fairdale. 

He was a member of I.O.O.F. #471, Rush, PA, American Legion Gardner Warner Post 154, Montrose the Mayflower Society, the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution, and a past member of the Fairdale Grange.

In his free time, He enjoyed gardening, canning, genealogy and passing on all of his free advice.

He was a dairy farmer who had a true passion for Jersey cows, chickens, sheep and pure respect for the land. 

He loved spending time with his grandchildren. 

Survivors include son, Russell Very [Jean] of Montrose, PA, daughter, Rachel Yost [Robert] of Danielsville, PA, grandchildren, Autumn Rose Yost,  Russell R. Yost, Ella M. Yost, Jodi Clary, and Thomas Clary, a sister, Janet Schoffstall [Jim] of Bethlehem, PA, and nieces and nephews.

Services: Private. Visitation: 7:00-9:00 PM on Friday at Bartron-Myer Funeral Home, Inc., 382 Church St., Montrose, PA
