Barbara R. Terpstra
of Montrose, PA
Barbara R. Terpstra, 82, of Montrose, PA, formerly of Lincoln Park, New Jersey, passed away, Saturday, October 3, 2020. Born December 21, 1937, in Lynchburg, VA, she was the daughter of Lester W. and Frances Isabelle [Sensabaugh] Riley.
She graduated from Montclair State Teachers College with a bachelor’s degree in Fine Art and taught art at a number of parochial schools, the last of which was at St. Phillips in Clifton, New Jersey for 18 years.
She taught art privately at home and held a few "one-man" shows. Additionally, she participated in the local Artist Studio Open House Weekend tour.
She enjoyed collecting antiques, of which included teapots and kaleidoscopes. She served as President of the PTA when her children were in school. She was a leader in Girl Scouts when her girls were involved.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Montrose.
Survivors include Husband, Richard Terpstra of Montrose, PA, daughters & sons-in-law, Deborah Ann Terpstra of Montrose, PA, Dr. Sharon Lee Fisk (Jeffrey) of Hamburg, NY, and Patricia Sue Terpstra-Blalock of Denver, CO, four grandchildren Brett [Oy], Emily, James, and Melanie, a great-grandson, Michael, a brother and sister-in-law, Lester Riley, Jr. (Karen) of Crimora Station, VA, and a nephew Pete Riley.
In addition to her parents, a son-in-law William Blalock predeceased her.
