Obituary of Nicholas "Nick" DeGrote

Nick DeGrote,75, of Dimock, PA passed away, Monday, August 17, 2020 at home after a long battle. As always he fought a long hard fight. Born December 25, 1944 in Hackensack, NJ, he was the son of the late James Elwood DeGrote, Sr and Gertrude [Johns] DeGrote. He enjoyed taking care of his family and singing karaoke. The joy his children brought him for most of his life continued on with his grandchildren. They were all his pride and ultimate enjoyment. Nothing pleased him more than their presence at his home. Nick had a big personality and most loved him for that. He looked forward to family reunions where he could catch up with his loved ones that lived far away. His interest also included his chickens, landscaping, his friends and bringing laughter to those around him. Survivors include longtime life-partner, Cindy Burger of Dimock, PA. Sons, Nick, Christian, and Kyler DeGrote(Kylie), of Dimock, PA. Daughters, Nicole Brooks (Wayne) of FL, Kristin Rozelle (Jeremy) of Dalton, PA, Melissa"Missy"Fredericks (Jim) of Effort, PA, Arianna "RiRi" DeGrote (Mike) of Dimock, PA. Grandchildren, Kayla, Jimmy, Ryan, Jakob, Nile and Bentley. Sisters, Adelaide "Sis" Willis (Sid) of NY, Rosemarie "Sue" Moody (Jim) of TN. Brothers, Gilbert "Alan" DeGrote of Montrose, PA, Rodney "Rock" DeGrote (Betty) of NY, David DeGrote (Peggy) of NY, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he is also predeceased by a son, Dylan T. DeGrote, Brothers, Charles "Chuck" Johns, Mark DeGrote, Henry "Arnold" DeGrote, Robert "Kine" DeGrote, James "Jitter" DeGrote, Jr. Visitation: Saturday, August 22nd 1:00 pm at the Bridgewater Church, 10142 State Route 167, Montrose, PA.
