Belva A Adams, DeLand, FL, formerly of Harford, died February 1, 2020, in Halifax Hospice Center, Orange City, Florida. Belva (Bevie) was born on September 28, 1925, in Clifford, Pennsylvania. She lived with her sister, Alberta, and graduated from Newark Valley High School, Newark Valley, NY, in 1943. She worked in the IBM cafeteria in Endicott, NY, for three years and learned to make delicious salads. She enjoyed cooking and thought of becoming a dietitian. However, her life changed when she met her first and only love, John L Adams, at a dance at Paradise Valley Dance Hall in Clifford in 1945. They married August 3, 1946, in Ironton, OH. Her sister, Peggy, lived in nearby Huntington, WV, and invited them to get married there. John and Belva were members of the Harford Congregational Church where she was an active member of the women's group, the Willing Workers. Belva was a homemaker and seamstress, and later worked at Harford Hardware Store, Endicott Johnson Shoe Company and Clifford Dress Factory. She and John moved to DeLand, FL, in 1972. In Florida she provided childcare for several children including her own grandchildren and later became a friend and caregiver for an elderly lady. Belva was well known for her cooking and baking talents especially her delicious cookies. She sewed award-winning Halloween costumes, uniforms for baton twirlers and clothing for her daughters as well as crocheting many blankets over the years. She has resided at Good Samaritan Society, DeLand, for the past four years where she could be seen doing her "homework" in word search puzzle books.
