Obituary of John J. Guiton

John Joseph Guiton, Sr., 91, of Irish Hill, PA passed away, Thursday, December 20, 2018 at Wilson Hospital, Johnson City, NY.  Born May 16, 1927 on Irish Hill, PA. He was the son of the late James and Winifred [Cavanaugh] Guiton.  His wife of 54 years Helene A. [Healy] Guiton predeceased him in 2006.

 

He was a dairy farmer and stone quarry operator.  For 19 years he was Chairman of the Board of Supervisors for Middletown Township.

 

He was a life time member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Irish Hill.

 

John had a great love of life, faith, and family. He adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He loved to read Noah’s Ark, toss balls to the babies, and loved to watch old westerns with his great granddaughter. He enjoyed stone work, woodworking, baseball, hunting, mechanics, and carpentry.

 

Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Mary (Randy) Long of Irish Hill, PA, and Jane (Dean) Mack, of Kingsley, PA sons and daughters-in-law, David Guiton and John (Kim) Guiton, Jr., all of Irish Hill.  12 grandsons and one granddaughter, Travis [Christina] Long, Clint [Morgan] Long, Lucas [Amber] Mack, Shana [Brandon] Benedict, Dustin [Abbey] Mack, Cody Mack, Logan Mack, Austin Mack, Keegan Mack, Ethan Mack, Ryan [Aubrey] Guiton, Derek [Ashley] Guiton, Ricky Guiton,  great-grandchildren; Alex, Allison, & Miranda Long, Quinn, Teagan & Caden Long, Ryker Mack, Trinity & Arianna Benedict, Chloe Mack, Claire Guiton, Charlie & Jack Guiton

 

In addition to his parents and wife, a son Francis J. Guiton, predeceased him in 1996.  John was the last living sibling of nine.

Services: Begin 9:30 AM Thursday, December 27th at the Bartron-Myer Funeral Home, Inc., Montrose, PA continuing with a 10:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St Francis Xavier Church, Friendsville, of the ST. Bridget Parish.

Visitation; 4:00-7:00 PM Wednesday, December 26th at the funeral home.  A prayer service will be offered at 6:45 PM.

Pallbearers:  Travis Long, Clint Long, Lucas Mack, Dustin Mack, Cody Mack, and Andy Freeman.
