Obituary of Sarah Gaylord
Sarah J. Gaylord
of Springville, PA
Sarah Johnson Gaylord, 85, of Springville, PA passed away on Monday, August 6, 2018 at her home in Springville, PA. She and her husband, Herbert L. Gaylord celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary on October 8, 2017.
She was born in Springville on May 27, 1933, the daughter of the late Martin T. and Meda [Manley] Johnson.
She was a 1951 graduate of Dimock-Springville High School. She worked at the former Bendix Aviation Corp. for 15 years, and then at the former Asa Park Manor Nursing Home for 20 years.
Sarah accepted the Lord Jesus as her Savior in her early twenties and was a member of Springville Baptist Church for 60 years. She loved her Lord and desired for all her family members to accept Jesus, too. She saw to it that her family was at church at every possible opportunity. For more than 5 years, she enjoyed volunteering with Child Evangelism Fellowship, counseling the 1st and 2nd graders at Elk Lake Elementary School, telling them of Jesus’ love and pointing them to Him.
She was an avid Yankee baseball fan since 1947. She enjoyed taking care of her shrubs, flowers, and vegetable garden. Her fudge and baked beans were sought after by anyone who had tasted them at a fellowship supper, a picnic, or during the holidays. She also enjoyed traveling with her family, and her skills at planning vacations and church trips were second to none. She was happiest when surrounded by family and friends for food and fellowship and will be missed by all of them. She was a loving wife, a caring mother and a devoted grandmother.
Surviving besides her husband are one son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Marjorie Gaylord of Springville, PA, and one daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Gregory Kapp of Stroudsburg, PA, 7 grandchildren, Mariah (Matt) Sterner, Micah, Martin, Marianna, Michael, Brian and Jeffrey and sister-in-law Geraldine Johnson, Springville, PA, a nephew and 3 nieces and several cousins.
In addition to her parents, a brother Wayne Johnson and nephew David S. Johnson, predeceased her.
