Jane "Janey-Dog" Duffield Hamilton Warriner died peacefully on Saturday November 4, 2017, at dawn and under the full moon, after a long, courageous struggle with a recently diagnosed motor neuron disease.
Jane was born April 26,1937 in Flushing, NY. She married in 1956, and moved to the Philadelphia area. A resident of St Augustine, Florida since 2006, Jane also had homes and spent much of her time in Philadelphia and Montrose, Pennsylvania, as well as Auchmithie, Scotland, the last of which she maybe considered to be her true home.
Jane graduated from Westover School in 1955 and later served on its board of governors. She worked passionately throughout her life to help individuals living with Down Syndrome. In 2011 she established the Jane Davey Hamilton Endowment to provide information and support to the Down Syndrome community. Jane's proudest accomplishment was earning her shepherd's crook and caring for the flock on the Isle of Gometra Scotland.
Jane was an avid tennis player most of her life and was a proud member of The Merion Cricket Club, The Courts and the Montrose Club. She was a devoted member of the Philadelphia Orpheus Club, the Assemblies and was active at Christ Church Philadelphia.
Jane was preceded in death by her infant son Reuel, her loving husband John "Dody" Warriner and her younger brother Peter Hamilton.
She is survived by her beloved partner and friend of 30 years, Edward K Klees; her older brother H. Davey Hamilton (Lucy); her children Eliza Putnam (Mats) Ander, Nancy Putnam, Meredith Putnam (William) Mitchell, John D. Warriner Jr (Gaby), and Sarah Warriner, her grandchildren Ian & Anna Warriner & Lindsay Warriner (Corey) Golden, Henning Ander, Addison and Henry Mitchell, and a great grandson Dominic Golden.
