Jean Loomis, 88, of Montrose, PA passed away, Friday, July 6, 2018 at Endless Mountains Health Systems, Montrose, PA. Born September 9, 1929 in East Lemon, Wyoming County, PA, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Sr. and Marion [Stark] Shaw. Her husband, Irving N. Loomis, Jr., predeceased her in 2009.
She graduated from Tunkhannock High School in 1947. She was employed by the Department of Highways, Trinity Portland Cement Co. and Bendix Aviation. In her later years she worked for Dr. Amos Hollister, Dr. Ronald Reed and Irving N. Loomis & Sons.
She was a member of the Montrose United Methodist Church, Susquehanna County Republican Women, the local Friendship Club and the Montrose Club. She was active in the Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Brownies and Girls Scouts. She was a volunteer for the Cancer Society, participated in the Endless Mountains Fitness Center and enjoyed gardening and landscaping.
Survivors include son, Jeff Loomis of Montrose, PA, daughter & son-in-law, Chrisann Loomis Rowe (Eddie) of Cumming, GA, granddaughters and spouses, Tiffany Loomis (Mark Bably), Krystle Loomis (Ed Shinn III), Melanie Daniels (Joshua), grandsons, Edward Rowe III, & Jameson Rowe, great granddaughter, McKenzie Shinn, brother & sister-in-law, Edward Shaw (Lois) of SC, sister, Mary Tripp of Tunkhannock, PA.
In addition to her parents and husband, a daughter-in-law, Jan Loomis, brothers, Arthur, and Charles, a sister, Ruth Davis, brothers-in-law Luther Davis, Rolland Loomis, sisters-in-law Marion Loomis and Marion Shaw predeceased her.
Services: 11:00 am Saturday, July 21, 2018, at Montrose United Methodist Church, Montrose, PA 18801. The family will receive friends following services.
