Joan Marie (Douglas) Brobst, of Johnson City, N.Y., (formerly of Birchardville, Pa.) born January 12, 1935, in Sugar Run, Pa., to Roy and Virginia Joyce [Justin] Douglas, peacefully passed away April 25, 2018, at at age 83.
Joan was the beloved wife of Harold Brobst, Sr., for 65 years. She was preceded in death by her in-laws, Edward LaVern and Leona May Brobst; brothers, Lawrence, Samuel, and Lamont Douglas; and grandchild, Christine Elizabeth Mead. Joan is survived by her husband; daughters, Shirley Delmar and Wanita Brobst; and sons, Harold L. Brobst, Jr., and Raymond [Marjorie] Brobst; and grandchildren, Lisa Brobst, Eric [Gretchen] Brobst, Sara [David] Wozniak, Mike [Victoria] Brobst, Jimmy Brobst and Dawn Griffiths; and 7 adored great-grandchildren.
She was employed by IBM in Owego, N.Y., and retired after more than 22 years of service. She attended Grace Baptist Church in Binghamton. Joan’s hobbies included cross-stitching, crocheting, knitting, and spending time with her family. She loved her morning coffee and checking in on friends and family on “the internet” (Facebook). She regularly listened to country music on her iPad and watched the birds from her porch. She also enjoyed shopping and striking up conversations with strangers, and never missed the opportunity to share a piece of chocolate with her husband after a meal. She is profoundly missed by all who knew her.
