Obituary of Roger Wood

Roger D. Wood

of Binghamton, NY

 

Roger D. Wood, 87, of Binghamton, NY passed away, Monday, December 4, 2017 at Binghamton General Hospital, Binghamton, NY.  Born January 10, 1930 in Birchardville, PA, he was the son of the late Lawrence E. and Helen L. [Worrick] Wood.

 

He was proud to serve his country in the US Army during the Korea War, receiving United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and 2 Bronze Stars.  He counted it a privilege to be apart of a family who had many members who served in the Armed Services overseas.

He was a member of American Legion Post #0758, Johnson City, NY

 

For 24 years, he was employed by Binghamton Psych. Hospital as an Occupational Therapist and spent much of his spare time, bowling.

 

Survivors include  his wife Marcia [Gardner] Wood, a daughter, Rebecca Wood of Kirkwood, NY, sons and daughters-in-law, Gary A. [Carrie] Wood of Johnson City, NY, Bruce E. [Jill] Wood of Lancaster, OH, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sisters & brothers-in-law, Sally [James] Steffen of Roanoke, VA, Audrey [Dan} Feegle of TX, brothers and sisters-in-law, David [Betty] Wood, Sr. of Binghamton, NY,  Floyd [Judy] Wood of Springville, PA,  John [Jane] Clair Wood of Venora, NY, foster brother, Raymond [Sandra] Anderson of Carbondale, PA,

In addition to his parents, his brothers, Richard (Dick) Wood and Lewis Wood predeceased him.

 

Services: 11:00 am Friday at Bartron-Myer Funeral Home, Inc., Montrose, PA  18801.

Visitation:  6:00-8:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
