William A. "Poncho" Pellew

William A. Pellew

of Springville, PA

William “Poncho” Arthur Pellew, 69, of Springville, PA passed away on Monday, August 2, 2021.  William was born February 18, 1952 in Middletown, NY, the son of the late Raymond and Katherine [Rich] Pellew.

In his younger days, William played country music in a band with family and friends.  He loved his music. He could play just about any instrument he picked up. Many days and nights were filled with the sounds of guitars strumming and plenty of harmonizing. He would play everything from oldies to trying out the new stuff like those Barney Nursery Rhymes. He loved singing those to his grand children and then onto his great grand children who didn’t even know who Barney was!

He loved mowing his lawn and working on his tractors.  It didn't matter if he could do it or not, the lawn was getting mowed even if it meant he was ending up in the pond. He kept the neighbors busy rescuing him!

As a family we shared our love for music and couldn't be more grateful to be raised with the sounds of a guitar and music in our hearts.  Lots of memories were shared that way or tearing apart a motor for him.  In fact, There is a meme that said, "You can't hurt my feelings I held a flashlight for my dad."  first thought was, "Man, wished he worked on motors less."  If you knew him you know he had everything tore apart especially the garage! He taught us not to be afraid, sometimes that even meant being his little  daredevils or Guinea pigs ( same difference right). We did it anyway and still do today! Our road led to adventures that’s what mattered.

William was a man of many words he loved joking around even in the most serious of times.

He loved and was dedicated to his wife Joann of 50 years.  He always enjoyed spending time with the family. William unknowingly spent his final day having a blast  with family racing RC cars and driving his tractor. Ending his day watching his favorite sport (a boxing match) before bed.

He was employed in construction as a Union Mason.

He will be greatly missed by his wife of 50 years, Joann Pellew of Springville, PA,, his daughters Billie Jo Decker (Todd) of Montrose, PA and Cindy Pellew (Elisha) of Middletown, PA, his sons William Pellew (Misty) of Little Meadows, PA and Michael Pellew (Jamie Holbrook) of Springville, PA his 11 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.  He is also survived by his brothers Tom Pellew (Donna) of Springville, PA, Jack Pellew of Hop Bottom, PA, Wayne Pellew of NC, and sisters Debbie Pellew of Nicholson, PA Karen Doty of Liberty, NY, Kim Walker of Bloomsburg, NY and Tachy Hulse of Middletown, NY.

William is predeceased by his brother, Danny Pellew.
