Obituary of Warren Stanton

Warren Peter (Pete) Stanton, 65, of Springville, PA passed away on February 19, 2018 at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore, PA after a valiant two-year battle against esophageal cancer. He was born October 26, 1952 in Harford, PA to the late Jack and Ruth Stanton of Heart Lake, PA.


Pete was a graduate of Montrose High School and Penn State University, where he earned a degree in forestry. During his working career, he was employed in a number of venues: truck driving, utility forester for Penn Line Services, Claverack REC, DiAngelo Brothers, as well as PP&L. Most recently, Pete worked at the Penguin/Random House facility in Kirkwood, NY until its closing in March 2016. 


His greatest devotion was to his beloved wife of 31 years, Lorraine Loch Stanton, who survives him, and his two stepdaughters, Jacqueline Kelly, Hoboken, NJ and Kathleen Kelly, Springfield, PA, as well as his favorite four-legged companions, Peppy and Dart. Pete was an avid outdoorsman and hunter and a deep thinker who enjoyed reading and collecting historical and biographical works. He was also a student of watercolor and poetry.


Pete is also survived by his brothers: Mark Stanton, Montrose; Matthew Stanton, Throop; Joseph Stanton (Karen), Lakeside; John Scott (Jeanine), Freeville, NY; a sister, Joan Burdick (Richard), Binghamton, NY, and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews. In addition to his parents, he was pre-deceased by a sister, Ruth Ann Scott Burdick.


The family wishes to thank the entire staff of Hospice of the Sacred Heart In-Patient Unit at Dunmore, PA. The loving care, concern, and compassion extended to Pete, his family and friends will long be appreciated and remembered.


Service:  12:00 noon Friday, February 23 at Bartron-Myer Funeral Home, Montrose, PA

Visitation: Friday from 11:00AM until time of service at the funeral home.
