Monday, February 5, 2018Both of us are very saddened to learn of Paul's passing. Rose-Marie and I knew Paul and Myrtle for many years as a result of our mutual attendance at the Religion Newswriters Association. He was a dedicated journalist, and a man with some Rhode Island connections. Besides his getting his degree from Rhode Island's Barrington College, he and Myrtle used to attend Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, just across the street from across what is now Providence Place Mall, in the days when he worked for the AP. He was a big supporter of the RNA and, a few years back, was honored with its s Lifetime Achievement Award. A couple years ago we had the opportunity to meet with Paul at at his place in St Petersburg. Last September, at his urging, we flew to Nashville to see him there, only to find that the airline had cancelled his trip from Florida because of the hurricane. We were determined to see him anew, and recently purchased plane tickets to visit with Paul in St. Petersburg this Easter.. What a shock to learn that the Lord took him away at this time. Rose-Marie and I, and, I'm sure, all the other members of the RNA will miss him.
